If you are planning a trip to Hinton this winter, you will find that there is no shortage of winter recreation activities in Hinton to keep you busy for your entire stay. Often referred to as the gateway to Jasper National Park, the town of Hinton is surrounded by incredibly beautiful landscapes that make it the perfect place to get outdoors in the wintertime. One of the Most Popular Winter Recreation Activities in Hinton: Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing

The Hinton Nordic Center is located in the nearby William A. Switzer Provincial Park and has approximately 35 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails. Most major trail intersections have trail maps so you don’t lose your way, but make sure to pay attention to which trails are marked “one-way”, so you avoid having to backtrack. There is a dog-friendly loop, so dog lovers can bring their furry friends along for the day, and there’s also a five-kilometre telemark loop to enjoy as well.

If snowshoeing is more up your alley, there are snowshoe trails located within the Hinton Nordic Center. If you find yourself exploring by snowshoe, keep an eye out for the cozy warming cabin with stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
